We finally began working on the house on Monday, and it really has been a job. As I have said before, I think, the walls are boards and there are cracks that were very large. So we decided to caulk the cracks. It took all day and we did not even finish the one room. So the next day we decided to use sheet rock mud. It did make it go faster, but it still took a long time. we finally got through with it all on Friday at about 6:30 p.m.
Today, Saturday, we went over and pulled the rotten carpet from the house. It was nasty! The two out buildings were so full of garbage as well, so since today happened to be free day at the landfill, Jasper and Samuel loaded up all that would fit on a borrowed 1ton truck with a dump trailer and took it away. Yay!
I have posted some pictures and it showed the carpets coming out. It what will be my stove/country decor room, we found that there are wooden floors there. I think it would look great to keep them that way. It would so match the house. Not to mention the bathroom door. I love it.
Next on the agenda...
On Monday, we will go back to the house and begin painting! I am so excited to be getting to this point. Although we still will have a ways to go yet from there. See list:
Paint walls
Paint trim
lay carpet and other floor covering
Install kitchen cabinets
We must be moved by May the 5th. That is 2 weeks from today. Jasper says he can paint the entire house in a day. I am sure he can do the carpet in no more than 2 days, however, the kitchen may take a few days. I think we will meet our deadline. Who knows we may get to move a day or so earlier than we expect. We will see.
I have worked very hard this week. I was so tired on Wednesday at church. My pelvis was so sore and the more I sat the stiffer I got. Service was almost over and I decided to go to the bathroom. So off I went with kids in tow. Finally got back into the Sanctuary, and sat on the back pew. Sis Becky says: "I would like to hear The Merrell's sing: When The Home Gates Swing Open For Me". I dropped my head and said "Oh dear God, please no....I normally do not do that. Normally I love to sing. But when I am pregnant I lose my ability to hold a note. Breathing becomes a real task. It's a normal side effect to pregnancy, but not pleasant at all. But, I managed to get up to the platform and sing as good as I could. I was completely given out afterward that I sat down on the front pew and nearly cried. I was just so tired. I am rested pretty much from that now. I am tired but not like I was.
Today was a fairly easy day. I was only at the other house a couple hours. So, I was able to focus on this house. I got a good bit done. I feel good about my day. I am so ready for bed. And as soon as we can get the children in bed, I am gone myself! :)
Well, that's all for tonight. I will post more as we progress.
Have a great Sunday!
